Pre-Nursing and Transfer Checklist
Freshmen
We are excited to help you begin your journey to becoming an Auburn Nurse! Here are a few things you might find helpful as a freshmen pursuing nursing at Auburn University.
- Check your Auburn email address consistently. We start communicating with you before Camp War Eagle.
- If you are anticipating AP/Dual Enrollment credit be sure to have courses and grades to bring with you to your Camp War Eagle Advising Session
- Become familiar with our application process. It's never too early to start building desirable characteristics for your nursing application!
Transfer Students
We are excited that you chose Auburn to pursue the remainder of your nursing degree! Here are a few things you might find helpful as you consider transferring to Auburn for pre-nursing.
- You must be admitted into Auburn University as a pre-nursing student before being able to apply to the upper division.
- Upper Division Applications are due by the end of August. Visit the Transfer Admissions Page for more information on being admitted by Auburn University and having time to apply to the upper division by the deadline.
- If you are considering applying to the upper division this fall, email a copy of your unofficial transcripts to aucon@auburn.edu for an advisor to reach out.
Eligibility for traditional BSN Upper Division: (eligibility is determined at the end of summer term)
- Applicants must have completed at least 3 of the following science pre-requisite courses within the past 5 years to be eligible to apply.
- BIOL 1020/1021
- CHEM 1030/1031
- BIOL 2500/2501
- BIOL 2510/2511
- BIOL 3200/3201
If you are unsure if the science courses you have taken are equivalent: 1) Check out the Auburn University Transfer Equivalency Table or 2) email aucon@auburn.edu.
- Applicants must have no more than 10 pre-nursing hours outstanding at the end of the fall semester in which they are applying. To see what is considered pre-nursing hours, see the curriculum sheet on our website.
- Applicants must have an academic attainment average of a 3 or higher at the time of application. You can calculate your academic attainment average by using the resources found on our AUCON Application Information page.
- Applicants must complete all pre-requisite courses with a “C” or higher prior to admission to the upper division program.

Upper Division Checklist
It's time to apply to the upper division! Be sure you are familiar with our application process and timeline by visiting our AUCON Application Information page
Here are a few recommendations to be prepared to apply on-time and be competitive.
1. Make sure you will meet eligibility by the end of summer term
Eligibility for traditional BSN Upper Division
-Applicants must have completed at least 3 of the following science pre-requisite courses within the past 5 years to be eligible to apply.
BIOL 1020/1021 CHEM 1030/1031 BIOL 2500/2501 BIOL 2510/2511 BIOL 3200/3201
-Applicants must have no more than 10 pre-nursing hours outstanding at the end of the fall semester in which they are applying.
-Applicants must have an academic attainment average of a 3 or higher at the time of application. You can use resources on our
AUCON Application Information page to calculate your academic attainment average.
-Applicants must complete all pre-requisite courses with a “C” or higher prior to admission to the upper division program.
2. Be familiar with the application timeline and have prepared documentation. You can find more information on preferred documentation by looking over our application workbook on our AUCON Application Information page.

RN-BSN Checklist
Start the next step in your professional nursing career any semester – Fall, Spring or Summer!
Eligibility for traditional RN-BSN:
- Must have current unencumbered RN license in the state where professional hours will be completed
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 in all pre-requisite coursework from an accredited institution
- You can start the program with 2 outstanding pre-requisite classes that must also be completed while in the program

Eligibility for concurrent RN-BSN:
- Pre-requisite complete with minimum GPA of 2.5
- Official admittance to an accredited and approved associate’s degree nursing program
